Features and Benefits
Australian Merino Wool is a natural fibre which brings with it many features & benefits unable to be re-created by man-made and/or synthetic fibres. Read on...

Breathability – wool has a natural ability to breathe, ensuring you feel more comfortable over across a greater range of temperatures. Wool is also an Anti-Microbial Fibre reducing the risk of allergies and illness associated with skin pathogens. |

Wool is a natural Insulator chiefly due to the result of elastic, crimpy, serrated fibres which form small air pockets in the fabric; these air pockets are the insulators. Natural insulating properties ensure Woolerina garments are practical in extreme environments, both hot and cold. |

Wool is Water Repellent and has unique Water Absorption capabilities. Wool can absorb up to one third it's weight in moisture before it begins to feel wet. Paradoxically, due to the scale structure, spilled liquids run off. One of wool's greatest and most unique properties is that even when wet, wool provides warmth. Wool generates heat as moisture is absorbed, this heat then allows the wool to dry. This unique combination of properties is one of the reasons wool is so popular as a layer for outdoor and adventure activities. |

Merino wool has greater stretch and elasticity than most other fibres. This Stretch Comfort makes it easy to move and ensures incredibly comfort! This feature makes Woolerina garments ideal for layering. Wool's elasticity ensures garments are durable and long lasting, making them an economical choice and more cost effective than many other fibres. |

Wool is Fire Retardant due to a high nitrogen to oxygen ratio. When great heat is applied the fibre will smoulder but does not burn readily. This property greatly reduces the risk of the wearer being burnt making it an ideal fibre for babies and the elderly as well as those in emergency services, such as fire-fighters. |

Wool is naturally Anti-Static due to the fibre’s ability to retain moisture which reduces static resistance. While this is a great safety feature, it also eliminates the “clingy” look which so often occurs with man-made fibres. |
Wool is Acid Resistant – The fibre resists degradation when exposed to most acids. This safety feature makes Woolerina garments the ideal choice in workplaces where use of chemicals is required. |
Woolerina garments are Machine Washable as they have been “Super Wash” treated. This “Super Wash” treatment ensures your garments can be washed in the washing machine and won’t shrink; the fit of your garments will remain the same for the life of the garment. Many of the properties of the merino wool fibre combine to reduce dirt and soiling leading to less washing and therefore, more wearing! |
